Valerian Growing Instructions Print

Prepare the garden bed for planting by amending the top six inches of soil with rich, loamy topsoil.
Place the Valerian seeds, which are very small, in rows about 36 inches apart. Plant them three to five mm deep into the soil, with about 1/8 inches of space between seeds. Valerian seeds require light to germinate, so they shouldn't be planted too deeply into the soil.
Water the seedlings gently and keep the soil well supplied with moisture but not overly wet. The correct moisture level is essential to achieving germination in Valerian seeds.
